“Going away hamper” for our school leavers
At the end of the year, there will be children leaving the CYCC as their home for the past few years. Some of them grew up in the CYCC as from 2/3 years of age and are now going into the adult world with the same needs as a child from a family home. Like any parent we are sad and also excited at the thought of the big step. We believe that we have given them roots to help establish them in the world and that it is now time to give them wings to fly in pursuit of their dreams. To make this new journey just a little bit easier we would love to give each of them a “going away hamper”. This hamper is to help them with their basic needs at the exhilarating and scary time of their lives.
We want to bid them farewell with some of the following items:
Iron
Kettle
Bedding & Pillow & Blankets
Toaster / electric pan
Mugs
Plates
Cutlery
Pan / pot
Sharp knife & wooden spoon
Dish-up spoon
Breadboard
Peeler & grater
Mixing bowl
Laundry basket

House Andrew Murray Children’s Home cares for 155 children. We only receive partial funding from the Department of Social Development: Western Cape, and are therefore dependent upon the generosity of the general public for the continuation of our service delivery to vulnerable and abused children. On top of that we have running costs, maintenance costs and many projects to help our children that we need funds for.
